I stuck with Evernote through most of this transition and gave a lot of feedback through the betas. Bear was a darling for awhile, but it was a little too cluttered and focused mainly on text and I wanted more multimedia type stuff.Ĭurrently I am on Craft, and I am really enjoying it. The other one I went into for awhile was One Note (because of my education job). I am in the Apple world, so I once switched to Devonthink, but it was just too much, so I came back. What will I miss? Sending emails to Evernote, but that was a limited use-case anyway. I don't trust any note-taking app right now for critical customer paying work. My paying critical work will be done using documents in the file system. So, history in Google Drive, future in Joplin. This means that Joplin using OneDrive as its sync server will be suitable (although to be fair, Joplin does handle embedded files quite well). In hindsight, embedding documents is a long-term mistake, although it worked well in Legacy. I have now changed my note taking behaviour, with no embedded documents in notes. I will do monthly exports and update the Google Drive folder until the Evernote subscription expires next year, to continue to validate this approach. OneDrive is only used as a backup target because it has problems with full text search. I subscribe to Google Workspace so have about 1.2 TB of storage there. I now have full text search as well as hierachical browsing. Have exported 11,500 notes to HTML with attachments, and put that folder into Google Drive, which has indexed everything, including photos and documents. I'm not going to pay $10 less per month for a "Personal" Evernote than I pay for 3 x Office 365 installs (where I have 1.3 TB of storage as well)! ![]() I am exiting Evernote at the moment after paying since 2008.
